Background
In our project, we worked to raise awareness about Honour-Based Violence (HRV) among newly arrived refugees in the Netherlands. Our goal was to empower individuals by providing them with the knowledge and resources needed to recognize HRV, understand their rights, and access support services. By fostering open dialogue in a safe and supportive environment, our project encouraged refugees who are new to the Netherlands to break the silence around HRV and take steps toward building safe, independent lives in their new home.
What Happened
In this project, we organized several interactive workshops at Refugee Teams office, a key space where refugees receive support for their integration courses. These workshops provided participants with essential knowledge about Honour-Based Violence (HRV), their rights in the Netherlands, and the resources available for support. Additionally, we partnered with a school, delivering a lecture to 45 students to broaden awareness and foster understanding of HRV in a safe and inclusive setting.
